I have recently discovered this new release and I found it to be really rather interesting. It has RTS elements to a certian extent but if any of you have ever played the Warcraft custom map DOTA then you have a general run down on how this is played.
In the game you have 2 sides, Light and dark. (Big surprise)
There are currently 8 heros to be played seperated into 2 types of heros, Assassins and Generals
Assassins focus more on heavy damage and killing other Demigods where as Generals have a tendency to be more support and can summon many troops to their side to do their bidding.
The summary of Heros are as Follows,
Assassins: The Rook- The Rook is a huge towering...well for lack of better terms a moving castle. He can summon towers to defend areas and has a huge hammer in which to use for smashing things into paste. He has alot of independant weapons like archers and towers along with his normal attack.
The Unclean Beast- A Toxic dog...Fast moving fast melee not much in terms of ranged attack but can be a fearsome foe to face, his DOTs. fast attack speed and heavy damage can be devestating. He excels in knocking out lone demigods and destroying large forces of troops with his corpse explosions and plagues.
The Torch Bearer- Can control the forces of Ice and Fire. Ice is more Combat control where as Fire Is all about DPS. He can Cast heavy hitting fireballs, rain ice and ravage anything willing to get caught in his range long enough for him to do his work. He is a caster so he is on the squishy side.
Regulus- He is a sniper/archer. He can track enemy Demigods so be very careful when facing him. You might think you get away when next thing you know he snipes you from the FOW. He can go into a rage where he fires explosive bolts from his Xbow and can throw mines like grenades or to defend a point.
Generals are as Follows.
Lord Oak- He can raise the dead into spirits to power himself up and can heal his allies and himself on hit. He can also cast shields and protect his comrades and troops effectively. He can be a total pain to try and take down due to the amount of minions and periods of invuln.
Queen of thorns- Perhaps the least played as far as I can tell. Her minions can do AOE damage and she can protect allies with thorn shields which can turn the tide of a battle. The Uproots buildings for large amounts of damage and can heal with the corpses of the fallen.
Sedna- Sedna rides around on a large panther and has massive healing powers. She can be near impossible to kill if played properly due to healing in bursts and massive health regen. She can summon yetis to fight for her which are very tough to take down. She can also pounce on you with her panther to do some extra damage.
Lord Erebus- Lord Erebus is a Vampire lord, He is adept at getting into and out of combat very quickly and doing large amounts of damage. Enemies he kills have a chance to rise and fight alongside him. He can also drain life and turn into a poison mist. I have so much trouble taking this guy down most the time.
Gameplay has a few different modes and I have had nothing but fun playing this game. It is still a little bit buggy with the connection to other players for multiplayer. It uses a P2P system which requires you to open a port through your router which can be tricky for someone who hasnt ever done it before.
Overall I think everyone should at least have a look see at the game and make your own decision. But for now Im off to go burn things into a crackley crunch with the Torch bearer. Take it easy.
