Bad Bills return to sender
BAD BILLS, RETURN TO SENDER!!!
AB 126-(Increasing the homeless funding) This AB proposal would increase the funding for the homeless from 9 million to 20 million dollars.
REASON-When I first moved here and ran for City Council I was a big proponent for the homeless. However, I soon learned the fact that you can not help people who can not help themselves. When I managed in the airline business I tried a major employment effort to recruit homeless residents for general labor airport jobs. In return, not one single homeless person at the various shelters even bothered to fill out an application. I believe that the additional 11 million could go towards more important social issues, such as supporting education.
AB 137-(Increased punishment for acts of terrorism) This AB proposal would increase the minimum sentencing for terrorist acts from one year to two years.
REASON-I believe that this entire terrorism topic is a smokescreen to allow the government to gain more control an to take away our freedoms and to bring in more revenue for the oil companies, in the process. If the US truly wanted to attack the terrorism issue we would have captured Bin Laden and focused on actual countries that promote terrorism such as Saudi Arabia, Syria, Pakistan, and various locations in Africa. Secondly, how many actual terrorist have we caught since 9/11 in the US.? If there would be an actual terrorist caught here in Nevada I am sure that the sentencing would be for more that a year anyway!
AB 142-(Required classes for ethics) This AB proposal would require certain lobbyist and public official to take ethic classes.
REASON-This concept would be in comparison to requiring someone to go to church to become a good, moral, and religious person. People already know what is right and what is wrong in the political arena, and should know the results consequences of their decisions as well. Secondly, the Bill is too vague with stating to who will actually be required to attend these ethic classes. The 3 rd strike against this proposal is the fact that nothing is listed for punishment if someone is chosen and refuses to take these classes.
AB 155-(Requires Water Authorities to list charitable contributions) This AB proposal would require water authorities to list certain charitable contributions that they support to their customers.
REASON-This is clearly a waste of time Bill for many reasons and is too vague. Basically, I do not see the purpose of having to list any of their charitable contributions, nor does the general public care to know anyway. The 3rd strike against this AB proposal is that not all of the contributions have to be listed?
AB Bills 329,375, 440-(Tougher restrictions on Mortgage and Loan practices) This AB proposal would regulate adjustable rate loans and non traditional loans.
REASON-This AB proposal does not reflect the true problems behind the mortgage/foreclosure crisis, nor do we need more regulations here. The bottom line is that many American residents live way beyond their means and do not budget accordingly. On the other hand, many financial lenders have made bad decisions are deciding who should qualify and often make risky loans deals to their friends as well.
AB 372-(Changing the candidate name listings on the Ballot) SEE HOME PAGE
AB 374-(Port of Entry for Truck Inspections) This AB proposal would require the Dept. of Transportation to set up 4 Nevada Port of Entries for truck inspections with high tech screening equipment.(drugs, human transport of illegals, hazardous waste, explosives…ect)
REASON-Besides the enormous expense of budgeting this proposal managing only 4 ports is not sufficient when you have 37 different roads to get into Nevada. Obviously, if someone was involved with this type of activity they would by pass the 4 truck inspection area and chose from 33 other road options!
AB 170-(Tightening the Gov Guinn Millennium Scholarship qualifications and funding) This AB proposal would make it much more difficult for students to qualify and would cut funding in the process.
REASON-What amazes me is that if you have basic accounting skills you would know to start at the top and go to the bottom. Instead of cutting funding towards teachers salaries, pupil funding, and towards this fine scholarship program we need to cut from those unlimited # of administrators that are making 6 digit salaries annually. Another point that disturbs me is that the various teacher unions are always upset with getting lack of support from Carson City legislation they turn around and endorse that same incumbent candidates that have put them in this position. This explains why we have the worst educational system in the country.
AB 177-(Obtaining Grant Money for Non profit museums) This AB proposal that is supported by my opponent would use room tax revenue to help finance and fund our non profit museums.
REASON-I am not against trying to support any non profit museum or historical landmark, but why should the gaming and hotel industries be considered as the States Sugar Daddy with gaining tax revenue for funding. We need a broad based tax structure that would be fair, consistent, and not a burden to the taxpayer. There are too many businesses that either do not pay any taxes or not their share, which is why I do not support hotel tax funding for this purpose.
AB 196-(Over exceeding the State Budget) This AB proposal would allow the State to over exceed its budget to pay off various financial debts and liabilities.
REASON-What the media never mentions against the long term legislative incumbents is that we did not obtain this budget crisis over night and this was a direct result of there years of neglect. We need to better utilize the financial resources that we have available and stop the spending waste before this Bill should be considered for approval.
AB 246-(Adding more judgeships) This AB proposal would add 12 additional judgeship/judicial positions to Las Vegas and to Reno for the cost of 32 million.
REASON-First of all, I do not believe it is necessary to have these additional positions, especially at this budget cost. I consider this a sweetheart deal because the vast majority of judges, attorneys and/or legislatures are all connected together. Therefore, this AB proposal would bring in more revenue potential and job security, in the process.
AB 321-(Vehicle Emission exemptions) This Ab proposal would exempt certain vehicles from having to meet emission control requirements.
REASON-I believe that we need to have stricter laws in support of the environment, not making these laws more flexible.
Secondly, this law is not consistent because all vehicles should have the same regulations.
AB 326-(Buildings built with masonry) This AB proposal would require all buildings that we built with unreinforced masonry to have inspections.
REASON-The Governor has already placed a veto on the proposal because this idea would be too expensive and time consuming.

AB 417-(Funds for Toll Road Operations) This AB proposal supports a toll road operation through the Dept. of Transportation. However, this AB proposal would require a free alternate route if approved.
REASON-This is a very bad bill for several reasons. The concept of having to open a alternative free route defeats the entire purpose of having a toll road in the first place. Therefore, it is obvious that most people will choose the free route if the lanes are next to each other like planned. We already have major traffic congestion and if one of the lanes is used as a toll route this will even increase the congestion. To conclude, how are we going to fund this entire operation and construct even more routes if the roads do not have enough lanes to support this concept?
AB 432-(Expired teacher licenses) This AB proposal that is supported by my opponent would allow teachers to continue to work even if their license has expired during the school year.
REASON-Anywhere that you work that requires some type of licensing you are unable to work the moment that your license expires. If you are driving without a drivers license do you think the police will accept you telling them that you know that it is expired, but you will get around to renewing it in the near future? Teachers are considered mentors and should lead by example at all times and not given special treatment on this topic.
AB 459-(Teachers bringing attorneys to their administrative hearings) This AB proposal also sponsored by my opponent would allow teachers to have lawyers present with them for administrative hearings.
REASON-First of all, you have to realize that since my opponent is an attorney this would bring in more revenue towards legal representation. Secondly, looking to the fact that CCSD is extremely shorthanded on teachers and there is much demand for them you have to really screw up bad to get into this scenario in most cases. Secondly,
you still have your legal options available after the hearing is completed anyway, if necessary.
AB 467-(Funding for Public Transportation in Rural Areas) This AB proposal would require the Dept. of Transportation to fund public transportation to rural areas.
REASON-I believe that those who choose to live in secluded rural areas need to realize that the lack of public transportation goes with the territory. I grew up in rural Indiana and the nearest grocery store was 7 miles away and the nearest town was 16 miles away. We knew that we were on our own at all times and often had to take a snow mobile or tractor to get where we needed to go places, during bad weather. It is unheard of for rural residents, who chose to live in rural areas on their own for tranquility, expect the nearby cities to provide public transportation and funding for this proposal.
AB 478-(Payday Loan Provisions) This AB proposal would limit fees, disclosures, and require more rate postings with payday loan institutions.
REASON-In reality, this AB proposal has too much rhetoric and not enough actual substance. The bottom line is that there is still no restrictions payday loan centers for their over inflated interest charges and rates, so the rest of the bill is all irrelevant.
AB 480-(Preserving Huntridge Theater) This is a co-sponsored AB proposal with my opponent and would involve the Office of Preservation of the Dept. of Cultural Affairs to purchase the Huntridge Theater at an over inflated price.
REASON-This AB proposal was clearly created for public relation purposes for several reason and should not be supported. For example, if we can recall the highly publicized Circle Park project next door to the theater, which was another PR Democratic Party Proposal. All of the various Democratic representatives that supported this Circle Park Project and its opening received kudos from the liberal new media for their public support. Then they turned around and closed the Park indefinitely as soon as the first major incident happened, which was an excuse to get the homeless out of the area. The Mayor and City Council still refuse to reopen the Park for so called safety and security reasons. Consequently, why should we turn around and financially support another PR project at the Huntridge Theater? If it is too dangerous to visit Circle Park in the daytime with your family how can you expected to take a companion here at night time, right next door! If we can recall residents in the past were begging for the Huntridge Theater to be closed down because of the crime and gang problem therefore, besides there never ending financial problems. Times have changed with the Huntridge Theater it is time to move on!
AB 505-(Limited fundraising for Judicial candidates) This Ab proposal states that incumbent judicial candidates can not raise campaign funding, if not opposed for an election.
REASON-This AB proposal is very bad for 2 reasons. First of all, it is obvious that incumbent judicial candidates are being targeted and singled out, from the rest of the public office races. Secondly, how can they predict or foresee if they are going to be challenged until the candidate filing period. Regardless of the candidacy, fundraising for election contest are done well in advance and if you wait until the candidate filing period it is way too late.
AB 506-(Allowing voter registration on election day) SEE HOME PAGE
AB 509/AB 510-(Reducing sentencing for prison inmates) These AB proposals would decrease prison sentencing and increase good time credits for inmates because of overcrowding of jails and prisons.
REASON-One of the reasons we have a high crime rate in America is a result of weak sentencing. We need to budget for more prisons and jails and make crime sentencing a major deterent to prevent crime, not make it even easier for criminals than it already is currently.
AB 566-(Financial Support for Computer Corps.) This AB proposal would grant computer corps. a sum of $1,953,000 to give refurbished computers to certain pupils and their families.
REASON-I have to agree with critics that this is yet another taxpayer giveaway program for good reasoning. This is a tremendous amount of money just to give it away at all. There are no specifications to who actually will receive these computers, which translates into that it comes down to who you know. Ironically, those who had inside political connections just happened to be chosen as the recipients with similar give away agendas. There is no excuse to be giving these away at all because we could use these computers with our rapidly expanding school systems.
AB 588/AB 621-(The Green Tax Bill and a Bill for reducing State Business taxes) These AB proposals would reduce the amount of State Taxes imposed on certain banks and businesses.
REASON-This explains why we need a Broad Based Tax reform structure because there is no fairness or consistencies with the current system. We have some business such as the gaming/hotel industry that is constantly being targeted for tax increases. On the other hand, you have businesses that do not pay any taxes, do not pay their share or Bill like this that is try to give additional tax breaks when we already have a budget shortfall?
